More Televolution.

Post by ultratwin »

Some guy on the TDPRI put together a particularly interesting Tele, as if Telecaster ideas could ever actually run out. Strangely recalls a number Fenders from the past 35 years, I'd love to see another color combo with this configuration. Check out the chopped Tele bridge, which lets the guard do its thing w/o interference:

the bridge design like that is just terrible. and the black bridge pickup mounted straight onto a black guard looks bad.

no fanks.

I don't hate it. It doesn't look complete without black binding/block inlays, and the color looks very washed out but will probably age well...

The straight controls also bug me, but he probably didn't want to route... the guard looks weird without a pickup selector in Paul position.

its cool but 2/3s of the front is a giant pickguard, yeah it looks cool, but 2/3s is a pickguard.
its a grand idea and all that, but 2/3's of the fucking guitar is plastic.
and its not even an ovation...........

it's the same as a tele deluxe guard. are you saying you don't like tele deluxes????

how this would look better IMO
- normal tele bridge.
- controls going along with the guard contour.
- I would do a different color.

Yea with out the wide ranges on it there seems to be more plastic, not giant chrome square to offset it. I do like the bridge (string thru, and brass diagonal saddles).

that is pretty wretched. it would have looked better with a normal tele guard. or that whacky warmoth one.

straight controls are crud.

no switch up gibby style = that squire 'punk' deluxe style guitar.

I like it except for the controls... that was the first thing that I noticed being weird about it... the bridge pickup does look a little weird but it still looks ok, and I probably would just prefer the regular tele style bridge.

I like it, I'd put a chrome cover on both the pickup and the bridge, so it doesn't look so empty!

its not just like a tele deluxe pg tho, it has the end that goes to the end of the horn like a normal tele.
like stated before, too much pickguard, too lil within the pickguard.
would fit/look better with some switches, knobs, stuff like that.
just imo tho.

i knew something was wrong with that. the lower horn being completely coverd like a normal tele guard. ugh!

Funny how just covering the lower horn does make things appear overkill. A little work with a white guard on a pastel shade would be my cup o' tea, I believe.

Upon a closer look, the bridge seems to be one of those pricey Glendale fixed Strat deals, for Tele/Strat players that even want brass saddles on their horses as well, ifyaknowwhatimean.

This one even comes with a brass block:

i made a tele styled body once and everyone said it was too plastic looking, thats one of the reasons that i dislike that design.

I reckon it'd look a lot better with the standard Tele bridge, there's just a bit too much plastic going on..

Aye, that's what I was thinking. Would have made far more sense to cut the guard around the bridge, than to cut the bridge to fit the guard.

If it had that, it'd be perfect.

i think a '69 thinline guard would've worked much better. or even a normal guard; if you're going to use a transparent finish, you might as well show off the grain.

A Telecaster Custom (without neck pickup route) would have been made to measure, they already have the same shape the Deluxe with a bridge cutout:
