They didn't. That's a Japanese imported Kay, probably by Teisco. Kay started to import guitars from Japan in the 60's I believe.

I don't know anything about Kay or Teisco history. I think its interesting that they found the need to copy everything. They definately came up with something funky with that one. I like the real one a lot better.

thats really cool dave, i never saw one of these before!
altho the wood is kinda weak. a friend of mine that works for collins in texas says that in about 3 years they are doing a wilwood tribute series.
definitly the best post you have made in a long time,

Collings is absolutely my favorite acoustic. I don't know what they do over there is Austin, but I think they spinkle those guitars with magic. Collings are the best playing acoustics I've ever played.

The Music-go-Round near me had one last year - it was really nice, but it sold within half a day.

Teisco-branded fake - actually played nice, too. It was marked at $150
