Fredo & I spent an awesome day together just hitting up guitar stores and jamming out. His heart is now set on getting the Elvis Costello custom jazzy, but also this buddy right here:
Has more bass than a regular banjo, but works great for the banjo playing impaired [6 strings & you play it like a reg guitar]. I think it will go well with the electric sitar and for $250, I'd say it's a decent price. Smashing Pumpkin's "Tonight Tonight" sounded real cool Southern style!

My Name Is Jonas is my favorite song to play on a 6 string banjo.

I want a Banjo one day so I can get my Sufjan on. I'd go 4-string because I'd want to be authentic, and probably then regret it forever when I suck.

that's a 5 string banjo, 4 strings are pretty rare.

I had a feeling I had screwed it up. The 5th string is halfway down the fretboard, yeah?

yep, it's an open drone string used in some chords, it starts at the 5th string
you don't fret it.
