Help me pick a amp

So it's time for me get a real amp. I have mostly been playing crate amps and line 6 pods which I think is ok.. kinda.. maybe not.. for simple punk/metal riffs. But now I wanna be able to do some experimental stuff with external effects too.
some of my fav. bands are;
Marilyn Manson (marshall and laney)
Nine Inch Nails (line 6 vetta and fender twin reverb)
Placebo (fender twin reverb and marshall 6100)
My Bloody Valentine(marshall 2203)
Deathstars (peavy 5150)
Apoptymga Berzerk(engl)
and then I like the crunchy sound. kinda like kiss, mötley crue and such.
I think that nine inch nails and placebo are the tones that I wanna be able to get the most, which is the really thick overdriven sound, the fuzzy and the heavy distorted (but still not heavy like heavy metal  ). It would be nice to be able to dial in some deathstars/rammstein 5150/mesa kinda sounds too AND some more crunchy stuff. Maybe it's a lot to ask for so I will have to get several amps.. It doesn't really matter if it is a combo or top, but it must have fx-loop. I have been looking at the engl screamer and I really like it but would it fit me? I like marshall too but i haven't really found one that is good for me. Sure dsl's cool but I think the screamer fits me better. Any suggestions?

don't go off what bands you like and what they play
go play as many amps as you can, bring YOUR GUITAR, and find what you like
if you want authentic tone, [this is MY experience] stay away from Line6, everything is modulated and it really doesn't matter what guitar you plug innit, its going to sound the same...

so bring your guitar, go play alot of amps, and find something that YOU like.

Interesting first post. I don't mean that in a sarcastic way, it's just interesting how your first post here is on such a topic. :)

Welcome to Shortscale.org. :D

The question is, how much are you willing to spend?

twin reverb. that way, when you use distortion effects, you hear distorted guitar, instead of distorted guitar and amp breakup compressing and mudding and farting.

I would need to know more about your budget and needs.

1. How much do you have to spend? Do you mind buying second hand?
2. Combo or Head/cab or not fussed either way?
3. What do you want the amp to do - provide a clean tone and use pedals for dirt, or provide clean and dirty sounds?

Marshall AVT 150.

Loud as fuck and fairly versatile.

Buy a mesa triple rec and a PRS.

Runs and hides while snickering

FFS, just go play some until you find one that works. I have seen people make line 6 amps sound good and crate sound good (but not as often as I have seen people make mesas and PRS sound bad
