What is going on with Jaguar prices these days?

Post by TheBurbz »

There are some used Jaguars on Ebay UK with BIN prices of around £500! They seem to start from around £400 for a used model. I remember when Fran sold his for £250, I know it was around christmas time so people might not have had much money then, but prices are ridiculous now. Is it just because of the state of the economy? even importing from Stringnet (I'm pretty sure they are still shipping internationally) is not an option since their prices has risen considerably too.

I'll never be able to afford one :(

they have been kinda wierd i have seen 2 pre cbs jags sell for less than 2 grand and the am reissues have jumped for about 900-1100 all the way to 1400 and up.
a couple weeks back there was an OTC jag like mine that sold for damn near 1500 while a 69 sold for a lil over 1700.
i think its th eintroduction of the mexican jags and the limited run of american jags.

jags have always been all over the place, pricewise. it's still kinda hard to tell where exactly they fit in the vintage market. it seems they drift in between being a serious guitar and a student guitar. vintage ones can still be had quite often for under $2000. i got my '62 for about $1500 last october.

i keep looking.

I got my jag last year for £320 inc shipping, yet i keep seeing other ones of similar age and quality for for £380 excluding posting. Same seems to be happening with Jazzmasters: there's a gorgeous turquoise cij, matching headstock, SD's and pearl scratchplate, which I'd love to bid on but would guess that it will hit £460 by the time it finishes...

madness. and it's pointless trying to find an original vintage in the UK for less than £2000 - possibly owing to new AVRI's selling for £1200 over here, and driving the vintage market upwards.

About two+ months ago they were dirt cheep on UK Ebay, i only paid £260 (with Hardcase) for the burgundy mist.
I think you have to keep looking, when there are a lot on at once, which happens, you will get a bargain.
