I was rocking at their age. There are pictures around to prove it.
I used to play Teen Spirit with F11th/Bb11th/etc because I didnt' realise a barre chord wasn't all the strings on the same fret.

At least I was working out Nirvana songs by ear at the age of 11.
Proof that I would still be doing the same thing at 27.

You've been playing for longer than me, Livesley. And you didn't have an Iron Maiden phase.
I am fail.

You're probably better than me already though, I spent a good 6 years just concentrating on my rock face.
I did learn how to play the Afraid To Shoot Strangers guitar line once, but I doubt that counts as an Iron Maiden phase per se.
I did definitely have the following phases though:
Nights In White Satin
Nirvana
Pearl Jam
Metallica (including borrowing all the tab books from a rich friend, I can still play most of the first four albums)
Eric Clapton/Jimi Hendrix (Epic Fail at this)
Oasis
REM
Radish
Weezer
Nirvana (reprise)
Radiohead
The Beatles
Joni Mitchell/Elliott Smith (gave up after a year because I'm rubbish at fingerstyle)
Badly Drawn Boy
Mew (they have extra fingers I'm sure)
Paul Weller/The Jam/The Clash/The Libertines
Arctic Monkeys
The Futureheads

Poor little dude went for the feedback @ the end and got ziltch. At least he whipped that volume up and kept at it until there was a little whoop.
Good for them.

I started playing when I was like 17. Nirvana was huge @ the time and yes I was a big fan, but around that time I had lent out the Woodstock movie from the Library, saw Pete Townsend and I was like "WOW, I need to get a guitar"
On and off I've been playing for a while, I wish I was better but I have fun when I play so that's all that counts even tho my hands kill me when I do .

I was bearing this in mind. Do you also jump up and down ecstatically when your band is announced? Because that, I need to see.
And Doog, that made me lol too.
