Any info on Montaya guitars?

Post by astro »

A local pawn shop has a cool looking Montaya pseudo-Mosrite guitar. They're asking $125, but I think I could talk them down.

It looks way cool, but they didn't have an amp to plug into. Couldn't see a tag anywhere that stated the country of origin, but I'm guessing it's Korean or Japanese. Has a faux-bigsby.

I didn't have a camera with me, but I found an identical one on Fleabay (here's the link)

Anybody have any info on these? Google turned up next to nothing. It looks like it would be a fun guitar to fix up/mod.

If you think of god as a pair of pants, a spiritualist thinks he needs pants, in fact he wants pants but none of the conventional types of pants seem to fit just right, so he makes his own pants and is happy that his knees are no longer cold.-fibus

it's not worth $120. maybe half that much. it's not really worth modding as nothing about it is quality really. the only thing of interest about it is the pickups really. and those pickups aren't even that great as these teisco style guitars go.
