well, i played an outdoor festival yesterday in the pouring rain, never a good start to the proceedings. then it went downhill from there.

firstly the stupid sound engineer tripped up over my pedalboard with enough force send it flying down the 8ft drop at the edge of the stage and smashed into a lovely wet concrete floor. i now have a twisted mess of a board in bits, no danelectro delay, as it is smashed. fortunatly, none of my other pedasl were damaged.

then after cobbling my gear back together, the tarpaulin that the again stupid engineers had put over the stage leaked straight on my side of the stage, soaking my bass guitar.

finally, both the power amp valves in the tweed died for no reason, so i'm now ampless.

basically, i'd like advice on what to replace my damaged stuff with. so were talking new pedalboard, new delay, new power supply and new vavles.

First off, get a nice thick football bat, and do a number on this "sound engineer"'s face.

I hope the fucker compensated you for that shit..

1. buy a solid state amp
2. plug your guitar straight into it
3. turn it all the way up

For pedalboard, and power supply, I'd check out Diago for both.
Delay - do you want analogue or digital? Any other features like tap tempo?

Fuck, unlucky man. Yep, get the sound engineer to stick his hand in his pocket - moan at the promoter otherwise, his responsibility. Dry your bass out fairly slowly - just stick it outside on a hot day, should be fine. As far as delays go, the Behringer Vintage Delay (VD400 - analogue!) is the best £17 I've ever spent.

yes mike, both the saltbooster and the box of rock were on the board, but thank god they are absoulte fine and performed amazingly till my amp died. i made a point of mentioning that had the soundman damaged these, they would be irreplacable, as they were custom built one of a kind.

the board is a complete right off, if i tried to bend it back into shape and built a new tier, it'd always have weak spots.

You're golden then, don't fret. Just let him know what the kit is/was, print out some google product searches so he can see the price range, and let him pay up or buy the kit for you. Don't be too twatty with him, sounds like, clumsiness aside, he's being pretty upstanding about it.

at the moment, i'm more worried about my amp, as i've got a gig tuesday. is it best to change all my valves together, or just get the power tubes?
the amp is probably ready for a full set. hoping they'll arrive in time. if not, i'll probably have to use a di from a pedal.

You can replace all the power tubes at the same time, all the pre at the same time, or both.

Actually, it depends on how many tubes there are, how many channels, etc.

two 6L6's and 3 12AX7.

Yeah - just the two power tubes then. If you have more, you have to replace them in pairs.

My boss has been telling me to get a pedal board off of Rondo Music or maybe Guitar Fetish, but I couldn't find any there. My boss's case could fit a guitar in it, too...

Dead glad the pedals I made were ok, but I would definitely have made you more if they'd got fucked up. I would have charged him double for them though.

i was dead glad too, as those two pedals were the main ones i use. it's annoying as i had just got my pedal board how i wanted it. i think i'm going to get one of the small trex tonetrunk or pedaltrain style boards for standard gig and a little homemade one with beringher gear on it for festivals like that.

yeah, hopefully it's just valves in and rock away. when it's switched on, you get that valve popping sound through the amp then some white noise. plus when you look at the valves when it's on, one looks normal glow and the other smells of burning and is almost glowing like a lightbulb, it's quite bright. not swtiched on since.

Bright glowing is not good. Definitely a good idea to replace the tubes first, if it still happens, I'm afraid you're going to have to go to a tech to have a look at it, which is a pain.

i'm still unsure what brand to replace it with. groove tubes have a bit of a reputation of being crappy havent they?
