I think we've all got a guitar that would be like having an arm cut off if anything happened to it. The one we always go to, the one thats moulded to the shape of your hand.
show them off people. it can be the ones you let get away too.

Oh, and mine would probly be the Jazzy:
I think I prefer the tone of my Strat, but the Jazzy has a wicked trem, a killswitch and looks SEXYCOOL.

Man, I wish I knew the answer, but it was already TOM'd by the time it ended up in my hands. I did however have the posts ground a bit, because it was an extremely tight fit to slip the bridge over(TOM bridge hole stace a tad too wide)...Which leads me to believe the new TOM post cups are at least somewhat extremely close to where the originals were.
In other words, I DUNNO.

SOLLY.

Nay bother, old chap. Just getting annoyed at having grub screws poke into my hand.
Would prefer not having to shim the neck for this purpose, but it may be a necessary evil.
The Warmoth mod. bridge is definately an improvement.. just wish they'd put grub screws on the D and G saddles too, rather than having to set them with the overall bridge height screws.

whilst I know you didn't do the mod, it came like that....for the life of me i will never understand how someone can change any fender bridge to a TOM.
Not really sure how to describe it but a TOM on a Fender is just so abrupt. Looses it's fluidness.

its not much, but it's my go-to guitar for ever.
when i first got it, there was a "factory-stock" wiring problem that had disconnected the single-coil tone pot. once i got that figured out, i've played the bejesus out of it. theres nicks and fretboard wear and it was all done by me

In terms of playing or looks?
I'm all for sexy looks, but if every Fender-based design is causing me problems, I'm quite happy to go with something more ugly to rectify a problem.

playing.....all the way.
Whether or not the fender bridge is the answer, perhaps an after market brand with like saddles... just anything other than a TOM

I guess putting a TOM on would be no better than the ol' Mustang bridge in terms of inflexibility- the very reason I ditched mine.
NEED MUSTANG BRIDGE WITH 6 ADJUSTABLE SADDLES, PLZ FENDER/WARMOTH

Perhaps you need to design one.
the old jag I had...that Fran bought had/has a mustang bridge.
a zillion years back someone had taken that bridge out and put in a TOM. I hated it.
Guitar came back to life when I switched back to the mustang bridge.
But I could see the lack of vertical adjustments being an issue.

Yeah, I just found I couldn't get it to setup quite right with the 'Stang bridge- the B would be fine, but the thin E would be too low.. adjusting to suit the E, and the B felt too high..
