Restrung Jag-stang + Saltbooster + Me =

A blown up Fender Champion 600.

I restrung the Jag-stang with '11s in anticipation of this pedal, and was rocking out for quite a while. The Saltbooster is amazing, really good, usable boost.

I ahd the Fender (which is 4 ohm output only) going into my Marshall 8 ohm cab (stupid, yes) and I'd noticed a couple of times there were massive drops in volume, and everything would go kinda muddy. I put this down to a dodgy lead. I was playing for about half an hour, and the volume more or less disappeared, to be replaced by a loud humming. I turned down the gutiar, and turned off the booster, and it was still there. I turned down the map, and took the guitar lead out, and it was still humming. I turned off the amp, to a fairly loud 'crack' sound. The back of the amp smelt like burning. Sort of a cross between burnt electronics and a burnt clutch.

I've had a look at the manual, and it says to use a cab of at least 4 ohm, so I reckons I should be able to get a refund on it, or hopefully get it replaced.

Bummer. The booster's class though.

Were you using a speaker lead rather than a guitar lead?

Well that sucks. Glad you were having fun and like the booster though.

Sounds like you should be fine to get yourself a refund, what a pain to be without an amp though!

I was using a speaker lead.

I'm not entirely ampless, I still have the Marshall head, but I was loving that wee amp. The Jag-stang is clean as a bell through it, unless you dig in, when you get a bit of break up, and the Emperor Regent is muddy and heavy as fuck through it. Lovely wee amp.

Probaly just as well.

No point in letting me ruin two amps.
