I have been off work for a month. Work and insurance are screwing me. I'm waiting to see a surgeon to see whether I have surgery on my wrists. My MRI results show a flattened Carpal Tunnel nerve, but my insurance company says I should be able to do modified duties, yet my fucking work says they can't accommodate me. Enough of my personal crap..... :? :

So with the little money I had left, I decided to buy this Jagstang I ran into, with the only intention of flipping on feebay. Fucking Rent and Insurance are due, so I figured they're selling good, and a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

A couple of things about this beast, I bought it from older guy maybe late 40's, seemed really nice and polite. he told me he bought it 12-13 years ago when Nirvana was huge. There is some rust on the hardware that kinda confirms the story. The finish is really fucking nice slightly aged yet still shiny with only a few very minor dings.

Also the color I find is a slightly darker shade of Sonic Blue than my first and only other Jagstang (I bought and sold sometime last year and I know was a Reissue for sure.) The Sonic blue on my first Jagstang was really pale. It was more of a pale seafoam green/sonic blue fused together I guess If that makes sense. Ended up selling because of that reason that and I never really liked it too much at the time. I love the shade of Sonic Blue on this one and I'm kinda liking it more now. Camera doesn't really pick it up, but against the Strat you can kinda tell.

Also this Jagstang came with a Fender Hard Shell case and I remember that here in Canada only the first batch had cases included in the price. Reissues. came with the Fender gigbags

The neck has a Q+6 serial # but it does say "Crafted in Japan" The Fender site puts it at 93-94, but those would say "Made in Japan" and the reissues in 2002 that start with a Q+6 digits say "Crafted in Japan"

The dude said it was all stock, except for a slideswitch. So I opened it up and yeah everything looks stock...

Anyway who gives a fuck when it was made, this Jagstang is actually pretty fucking rocking, so I hope my work gets their shit together so I can go next back next week and keep this beast. I think I'm starting to really like it and kinda wanna keep it. I used some of that Meguiar shit and buffed it and she's looking hot. :o

Now sit back and enjoy the Kurdtz....

Very very nice.I've always loved the quirk of the Jag-stang. I have a 90's model that I mostly keep in a case. Hope you get to keep it!

Thx Sublimedo,
I hope I do too! The pickups sound good too, unlike the ones on the other one I had. Yours blue or red?

Sure does look nice, but, im gonna have to disagree with the guy you bought it from. That is a reissue. Check the back of the headstock, it will say 'Designed by Kurt Cobain' if its under the clear coat, its a reissue, if it a sticker or if it doesnt say it at all (like the very first runs) its original.

People tend to hate the sound of the bucker on the JS, but I'm convinced that I got one of the few good sounding humbuckers on mine. I've always really wanted it in fiesta red, but mines in Sonic bloo.

The bucker is actually a great pickup. If you put it in any other guitar you'll see how nice. The neck pickup in the Jag-Stang is IMMENSE. I miss mine, I accidently broke it when doing some of my first ever soldering yonks ago.

Anyway, Congrats.

I guess that could be possible. but if you plan on putting it on ebay, you may not fetch as much, people might assume its a reissue, or may be put off if thats not the original neck. if it were me? i wouldnt care, i'd still buy it, but someone else might want an all original.

Dont you have an original J-S neck on ebay now? ..would have been nice to just swap out the two :)

My old reissue did not have a "Designed by Kurt Cobain" under the clear, nor did it have a sticker.

Nice one tribi. Who cares if its a reissue, the reissues play better imo anyway.
Be good if you get to keep it... ROCK ON! 8)

What was the dates on each anyway?

The one I used to have was a 50th Anniversary stickered one, what was that?

Fender 50th would make it a 1996 model would'nt it? Thats original run.
I thought the serial numbers beginning with Q where reissues and like purplehaze said the 'kut cobain' thing was under the lacquer on the reissue model as oppose to a sticker or non existent. I'm almost positive my first model had nothing on it but dont remember... it was 10 years ago.
Like we all know, its designer was its selling point and they obviously realised the importance on it stating this the second time round.

50th would be 1996.

I said that already

A 50th anniv. would be a '96, and yeah a CIJ Q+6 would be a 2003. Fender is kinda wierd though, they will reuse letters about every 10+ years or so... thats why sometime if you check the serial it may say Q+6 would be '93-'94

as far as the designed by thing, im not sure when and how often they put those on the original runs, mine never had one and its a '95 MIJ T+6, I do have a '03 Reissue and its under the clear. :?

'96 rings a bell.

Mine definitely had the "Designed By Kurt Cobain" and "50th Anniversary" stickers and they were both stickers as I recall.

The neck I'm selling has both the plaque and the sticker and it says "Made in Japan" :P
