Pedalworx McSqueeze.
Haven't had a single gig in the last 3 years where this thing wasn't on during most of the performance, albeit just barely on. Nothing but a slightly modded Orange Squeezer clone, it starts both boosting the signal and compressing from unity gain at about 9:00 and has a boost only switch on top that does the trick just fine as well. I keep mine at 10:00 and almost never any higher, the more subtle advantages of very light compression shine through everything from arrpegios to hard hitting bar chords, and the boost factor helps to push my BJF drive pedals a tad harder. I'm sure the Janglebox is a bit jealous, but she does her thing just fine when needed just the same.
The one in the picture actually happens to be mine in particular, from when the shop still had it (used) in stock. Ask Mike about wiring a simple Orange Squeezer clone if you will, they're really nice for adding a tad of girth to mid range frequencies while both boosting and squashing your signal.

noise gate is on alot cause your compressor is hissy? I might need one as I too keep the compression or a little bit of overdrive on almost all the time.jon183 wrote:for me my gate and compressor are almost always on.
What type of compressor you use? I like the nano soul preacher.
I had a SHO and I keep it on as a buffer, I love to turn it almost all the way up but I gets to loud and really I should have gotten a super duper 2 in 1 as it works like a distortion, the volume knobs was what I missed.Mike wrote:Mainly my 6100 footswitch going between teh Clean and Crunch channels gets a lot of action.
Recently I've been using the OLC Orange Peel I made for some songs and also a Saltbooster or a SuperHardOn for making me louder at key moments.
I never leave anything on all the time.

The Box Of Mike is left on at all times, with solo boosts from the saltbooster. i like to keep it as straight as i can, but i do love echo.

Sovtek Big Muff and the Line 6 Crunchtone (formerly miek fame), but i recently got a Korg AX1000g after being impressed by my AX1g for so long. Its got to the point where i'm pissed off with pedals/pedalboards/leads everywhere and i find them inconsistent. I can sound great at one venue and garbage at the next yet my settings are the same, maybe its the Marshall i dunno. One thing, stage lighting seems to interfere with one of the pedals but i have'nt found out which one yet.
i use my noise gate (mxr smart gate) a lot cuz i got a long chain of pedals. but its barely on. i have it turned all the way down and it does the job. I have the compressor on cuz i like how it brings out and evens out my tone. I have the new Visual Sound route 66 so its a noiseless compressor. its very nice.
