I bought the flat pack kit for this from ebay. The kit came with...

I had to purchase...

Fabric

The speakers are a 10" version of the current Celestion Greenback, and a 10" version of the Vintage 30. The grille cloth and fabric covering I got from hobbycraft.

The wood was pretty easy to assmble, but the corners were unfinished (right angle cuts as you'd expect) so I rounded them by hand using a small hand plane, a lot of sanding and even more patience. I had to do a fair bit of drilling but the main bastard was that the speaker holes on the speaker mounting baffle were slightly too small, and I had to enlarge them whilst trying to cup the circle as best as possible.


You can see the cloth is slightrly loose below the logo, but I'll fix that before I attach it to the rest. Apart from tightening that, and wiring it all up, it's done.







Approx total cost = £130, perhaps a bit less. It was pretty fun to work on, and I have enough covering and grille cloth left to refinish a bassman

Those pics were a bit shit so I took it outside and took a few more. You can see that loose bit of grille cloth a bit better. It's not quite as bad as the pic implies, I think the light caught it quite badly. The 'blue' is actually a bit more purple than it shows, but only a little. I suppose not a million miles from that midnight blue fender did for a while on the standard series.

Notice the drawing pins inside. I attached the fabric and the cloth with them. You can see a couple bottom left that I'll hide before attaching the front baffle properly.

That's fucking lovely: nice skills (and aesthetics, too). Was that from Torres themselves via eBay? And was it UK or US Torres? Was on the phone to the UK bod today, trying to source a speaker and caps.

Just from a guy who hadn't really started it. All he had done is put a few pencil marks on the batons that the front and back baffles mount to.

He had a really crap listing with no pictures so I took the risk and got it for cheap. Here is the entire listing...

I really like that blue, don't see blue that often on cabs, although you rarely see anything other than black.

It's just cotton fabric on the outside, stretched quite tight. The cloth is oddly something hobbycraft sell for roughly half the price of one of those 'amp parts' type shops (£9 a metre at hobbycraft, anywhere from £17-£25 from amp shops) and looks great.

Yeah the screws on the back are raised head. I have some more raised ones I might use in the corners of the front panel, but I think I'm going to screw it from behing (oo er) so you dont see any from the front.

dig the blue, but something's off about the front. . . maybe i just don't care for light grill cloth or something. silver woulda been rad. . . coulda mounted a faux anttenna on it.
