power supplying pedals

Bin playing guitars for ever, but the most pedals I've ever used live at once has been, like, one.

I'm now using three - an LPB-1 booster, a Bad Monkey OD, and a Tuna Melt trem. I want to get these guys powered up sans batteries, and mounted on a board etc.

I really am ignorant about pedals, srsly - what's the best (and uh..most cost-effective) way to power up that relatively modest number o' pedals? I'm unlikely to add more.

(Oh, and what's the right chain? Maybe boost--OD--trem?)

Thanks.

it depends on how you want to use your booster. if you want to boost the gain level into the bad monkey, then put that before the bad monkey. if you want to boost your overall sound i.e for solo boosts etc, then place the lbp-1 at the end of your chain.

how much you looking to spend?

something like this to power your pedals.

What country are you in?

This is the cheapest way to go if you're English:

Ooh, never seen that one before - nice one Mike. I've got a visual sound 1 spot, which has been great (and quiet) so far, but that beast looks good.

It's simple and the outputs aren't isolated from each other but if you have <5 pedals and none of them are insanely power hungry Digital Delays then there is no better option as far as I'm concerned. Unless you already have a Boss TU-2.

Equally cheap; I see your 6-way power bank £19.99 from Maplin and raise you a 10-way power bank £19.99 from Blue Aran/Just Add Music

I think Maplin's 6-way one is better for your need, sonicboom, as it has a steel case vs. the ABS case on the other (that some places such as theguitarstoreonline.co.uk want £39.99 for). Plus you could pop into your local one (?).

I have that power supply and it works really well for my pedals. How would the Boss TU-2 effect it though?

It can supply power on it's own to other pedals using a daisy chain, so single wallwart + TU-2 = smaller than the power bank.

The TU-2 has a dc out as does the pitch black, so you can daisy chain you pedal power through it

More outlets is only good if you don't exceed the mA limit with all of them.

Nice one

It's not my favourite tuner though, I would prefer the DT-10.

If as Johno was saying though the pitchblack has the same thing its a pretty class feature.

And that 10-way one says "100 mA/outlet" which COULD mean isolated but not as flexible; the 6-way one is 450 mA total. You pays your money and takes your chances, I suppose.

I suspect current limiting resistors rather than isolation.

Must take my DMM next time I go in there, and check. I could probably do with something like that, though I'm also planning to put a 9V power out socket on my HH footswitch :)

Mike, guys, thanks - really helpful. I reckon for my needs the Maplin gizmo romps home the winner. And they got some in stock where I live!

I could equally go for the TU-2 daisychained up, but I better check one out in th flesh first to see if I can read it from a floored position, like.

I don't like to wear glasses on stage (I've only just gotten used to wearing the reading glasses to adjust me amp settings at soundcheck - if anyone twiddles with 'em pre-gig, I am so sonically fucked, ).

Is there another pedal you can daisychain from?

Fran - thanks for that, man. I'm looking to spend as little as possible.

I think you can also daisychain from the korg pitchblack

i daisychain from an ns-2 noise suppressor, but not everyone has a use for them. but if you don't want a floor tuner it's quite handy.
