tuning a shortscale bass UP?

Post by esteban »

anyone done that? tuning up to B or C, so you basically get a 4-string baritone for mad power chords and riffage.

with much thinner strings, different nut, blah blah blah.

I would personally go after a danelectro baritone if you want to do that. They can come pretty cheap (I bought a U2 style one for $300 a few years ago) and are pretty cool, best of all they're already set up for smaller strings and are also 30" scale.

Or put .70-.11 strings on your 25.5" guitar, Like your old pal Aen. This has been my numba one Destroyer for probably 2 years.

Also, I had a friend who had the "baritone custom jaguar bass VI limited edition custom special edition baritone bass jaguar" which came tuned E to E, he tuned it up to G.

actually dude, your guitar inspired this question. haha. i was watching your pedal vids on youtube, and watched one vid where you talked about your 4 string tele.

i had my tele tuned to B with .11s for a short bit.

The huge low B makes all the diference. It sounds more like bass and less like detuned guitar, like you get with a .56
