Can you get this as an 'off the shelf' item?
Strat style
Small fender headstock
White binding
Black side dots
No inlay
I'm guessing that the nearest will be a warmoth or similar order?

By that I mean both scale length and heel shape.

Oh. On strat necks they'll make whatever you want. Unless you a want a Jazzy headstock. They only make a standard strat or CBS headstock.

There is a difference between a jazzmaster and strat headstock?

yep. There is a slight difference. A jazzy is longer and it's about half way between a standard strat and CBS in it's shape.
I didn't know there was a difference either until I held the two side by side.
unforutantely, Warmoth doesn't offer a jazzy headstock.

That's the first I've heard of it.
Got comparison pics?

True, the headstock is slightly different shape on a Jazzy. I'm pretty sure that the Cyclone has the same headstock shape as the Jazzy, but I could be wrong.

your right, the cyclone has the same jazzy headstock but its the 64 stylee, not the 65 and past large headstock.

it's true, strat headstocks are smaller than jazzmasters. there are quite a few threads on offset where people cry over jazzy necks that've been chopped down to strat size.
and as far as i know, warmoth will do binding on 24" necks, but not custom inlay.
james, i think your only option is to go custom. unless you'd be willing to settle for dots 'n' binding.
allparts makes one.

Yeah hurb has one of those dots + binding ones on his black jazzmaster (or did) and it plays nicely enough. Maybe I'll go that route and save a lot of money.
It's nothing urgent by any means. I can't afford to start a project now but some day I'd like to finally do that parts jazzmaster and this is it's current incarnation.

you could get one of those bound n dot necks.
then drill out the dots, fill em with wood puddy, and then ebonize the whole thing.
you wouldn't be able to tell unless you were with a foot of it and looking for it.

the only company i'm aware of that does jazzmaster headstocks is musikraft. i think they're a little pricey, though.

I'm not bothered about that at all.
I guess the likely thing is I'll buy a dots+bound allparts neck and if I'm feeling up to it try the dowel thing.

I think so far, warmoth is the best option for this. USA CG will do it, but they want $190 for the binding because they aren't set up to do it. It's not a terrible price considering the work involved and that the one picture i've seen of the neck binding they've done was pretty high quality, but it's more than I want to spend. Warmoth is cheaper at $110, but 'no inlay' necks are non-refundable so there are none in the showcase. Given how long it took them to make Mike's neck I'm reluctant to deal with them.
