swamp ash. gorgeous shade of lake placid blue. will post pics when i'm actually putting the thing together, and when it's finished. ideally it would be this weekend, but i'm out tonight and don't fancy carrying a large lump of wood to the pub...

intending on putting two strap buttons on the bottom, anderson/schecter stylie... tremsetter hasn't arrived in the post yet though - which is kindof annoying..

still using the stock mexican neck until i can find the $$$ for a new one (funds to be partially raised by selling the old body)... then it frankenstrat will be complete... mwa ha ha...

and before anyone posts it

((nopics))

It's a strat?

boringly, yes...

out with the old:

note the lovely white filler used all over the place, and the filled/drilled/sanded bridge, on account of the stock MIM trems being too narrow spacing for a direct vintage or wilky swap...

in with the new:

Image

subtle difference in build quality methinks... swamp ash versus tacos.

two strap buttons on the bottom because i'm sad. also means that i can prop it up without worry of it falling over... fitted with the parts that were already on the mim strat - so standard mim neck (albeit with lsr/sperzels), wilkinson trem.. added a switchcraft jack whilst i was as it...

bit of shielding for good measure:

quite how effective it is, we'll see. but in the mean time, put it all together and we get:

first impressions are that the body is a hell of a lot more resonant. sounds a lot brighter, and just feels better put together... now if only I can do the neck aswell...

paint is perfect for places you can´t fix cooper ex. tremolo jail , on pickups slot´s over guitars don´t have pickguard like my gritante
over jack cases on prestige style guitars have separate jack jail

cooper are oldschool , fender´s vintage have cooper on body and on pickguard

Copper. A cooper is an old school term meaning coffin maker, I believe...

Is that a 40 watt iron? I think I have the same one, works wonders...

Ace looking guitar, though.

cue beavis and butthead sniggering....

was unsure about how much to put on, and whether it would even make any effect - will be adding more though once some more arrives...

Cooper = Someone who make barrels.

Yeah, it's a 40w soldering iron. had it for ages - probably cost £6 from maplins or b&q? - needs a new tip but has done great so far for guitar soldering duties and melting my hair (note to self, pull hair back when leaning in to solder stuff...)

all seems set up properly now, and the old body is on ebay if anyone wants it...

what tim said. copying the schecter/tom anderson idea - means you can lean it up against a wall without worrying about it falling over...

copper shielding was from wd music

really impressed with the build quality of the body, and how easily everything just fitted together..

It's my favourite guitar people on this board own (although it's Stacey's I believe) now that Hurb has sold his Duo-Sonic II.

i've seen cooper shielding in the garden section at hardware stores. it's used to repel snails.

I love the color! Very nice, my upcoming Rob (OG) project is going to be somewhat close to that!
