mexican jazzmasters opinions??

almost bought a mexi jazzmaster today. thought it was japanese but i turned it over and made in mexico. anyone have one of these and whats the dif from the japanese ones. i've had the mascis jazzy allready and i liked it. any noticable dif to anyone??

the mexican jazzy is way different than the mascis. it's got different pickups, a closer tailpiece, smaller frets, and a glossy neck. not to mention how it looks.
i was really impressed when i played one. just stay away from the new mexican single-coil jags. they're pretty much strats that look like jaguars.

Aren't the pickups supposed to be hotter and P90-ish? That's not negative in my book. I don't know about the closer tailpiece though. I love playing behind the bridge. Also, those brown guards are horrible.

There are quite a few threads about these, including some detailed reviews. Check both this forum (because of the jazzmasters) and the short scale forum (because of the jags).
