Line 6 Spider III, should i DEW it?

Post by Haze »

http://tulsa.craigslist.org/msg/761940650.html

cheap, a 45 min drive

currently using a Frontman 15

and i can't resist this kind of deal
might get a foot switch for it to make it ideal for me

any experience with line 6?
only downside i've heard is that it is modulated and your guitar tone doesn't come through as much

A dude I know plugged a LP in through one wit the foot switch (telephone wire or some shit). Sounded almost exactly like Pantera... I think you have a lotta options with them, besides tubey goodness...
If you think of god as a pair of pants, a spiritualist thinks he needs pants, in fact he wants pants but none of the conventional types of pants seem to fit just right, so he makes his own pants and is happy that his knees are no longer cold.-fibus

It's a big step up from yr frontman and the best amp yr gonna find for $100. You can probably resell it for $100 if you don't dig it.
Go for it.

Meh.

I'm not a fan, but whatever floats your boat. It is a very good price, but it's not a very good amp.

They're definately good for clean tones and chuggy metals tonez, the other stuff is reasonable. I wouldn't use it with a band (because of the wattage and way amps like that sound when pushed), but for bedroom riffage, it's gonna be fun.

Absolutely, it's mid gain stuff and playing with a band that is going to be it's weak points. Unfortunately that's what I use my amp for.

I've got a 50w spider I. It's a great bedroom pwner. Its definitely not for "fans of tone" as all the digital processing makes any guitar sound like an Ibanez running through a mesa (albeit not as grandiose) or something but you do get variety of sounds. It's no tube amp but it's really worth it. I'd probably save up a bit longer and wait on a cheap bassman 10. It happens.

Ive used a Line 6 Spider on a few occasions, and frankly i think theyre utter crap, only good for clean tones. by god it took a lot of fiddling to get usable sounds.

BUT that is a sweet deal, so i dunno you could always resell it on ebay if it doesnt work for you.

sweet, i picked this thing up from the other side of oklahoma for 100 bucks and now it's sitting in my bedroom floor

i'll do a proper demo of this thing tomorrow after [my first day of] work

and the clean tones are nice once you re-do their shit pre-sets
crunch is a good marshally tone, metal i just said piss off to and use my mt2 for teh tones, and insane i just kick the front end with a boost and it's all good w/ some tape echo and what not, good solo setting though

Congrats. At that price if it never needs fixing you can throw it away, like the guy did with this Flextone Duo I've got :(
