Do guitar straps sound better after they're broken in

Post by Will »

I recently switched from an ordinary black nylon strap on my Tom Anderson to a really cool, wide brown leather strap with metal studs that I bought at NAMM. I like it, but my tone is now kind of brittle...will it sound better after I get 30-40 playing hours on it?

Also I tried out a Bumble strap recently....was not impressed. Probably because it was not custom made for me. I hear Santana and Mayer love their Bumbles.

I think it's meant to be a joke. We don't appreciate joking here in the Fx/Amp Forum.

yeah it's all a big lie !
when i got a 50's style strap for my bass i thought it would mellow out my tone a bit but it didn't, at all ! =/

then i wanted to be able to play asian sounding stuff so i got an asian style strap but it didn't work, maybe because it says it's made in canada, they're all big liars !

Already did - I even tried a NOS buckle. I'm still getting intermodulated distortion. I heard about a guy who can mod it for me though; supposedly adds midrange clarity and dynamics.

I could give you Transparent Bass Boost. But it would cost you.

I hate it when your strap adversely effects your tonal coloration. It may have something to do with thread count. and propler grounding.

it's hard to tell.

Take how much you'd like to pay and then triple it.

You need the Fender Premium Platinum strap.
Fender Premium Platinum Guitar Straps use 3-Way-plus Differential Strap Architecture to present the best possible balance between all frequency ranges, and to also preserve all the tone and nuance that your guitars are capable of. Optimally selected stranded fibers are used to preserve sustain and the edge that is so important in guitar sound, while two different types of solid fibers augment the bass & midrange, to give a much fuller sound. Specially designed hollow treble fibers give these straps a high frequency presentation to accentuate that chime that Fender guitars are so famous for. These straps have a unique voice that has not been heard before, and use a proprietary technology that is patented and unique to Fender.

i hear a strap made out of the toenail clippings of tibetan buddhist monks will produce some of the most pure tone ever.

Yeah, but if you play unholy music, the spirits will become angry and your pedals will develop intermittent problems at gigs.

oh! that must be my problem. thats what i get for playing death metal while wearing that strap. i should have used my vampire skin strap, for more death-y tone.

I might need that - my chorus has blue LED, but tremolo has green. I bet green causes brittle tones.
