I NEED HELP Desoldering
This is my first build and I'm having significant problems.

In building an Octave Fuzz board, I installed the 2n5088 transistor in backwards. Could not get it out in one piece, had to cut the terminals and now can't get the solder out. Tried desoldering wick but it won' t all come out? Problem is need to work from both sides of board at same time and very difficult.

Suggestions on how to remove would be appreciated. How do you desolder an item when it has multiple connectors????

Additional question, orange drop capacitor ihas been installed in wrong location (0.1 spot) . Have same problem can't get it desoldered. What would happen if I switch locations and keep as is? I wouldl put 0.1 capacitor in the orange drop location.

Use desoldering braid. It's the best thing for removing solder.

You're best off also desoldering the other components that share that lug and attching them fresh when you've cleaned it up with the braid. If you try and keep them there you risk dodgy connections. For the component you're removing, use some needle nose players/tweezers/whatever you have to grip what's left of it. Do one bit at a time and be patient.

As for the orange drop. Just get your iron properly hot, heat the connection and then remove that leg of it. hen do the next. Don't try and heat both legs and remove both at once, you'll never heat the second one up in time.

It's in the place another capacitor should be? What are the values and what is the other type of capacitor.

That isn't an orange drop btw. It's a ceramic cap. Is the one that should be there the large green type?

yes the green one is a 0.1

ceramic disc is 150pF

0.1uF = 100nF = 100000pF

They're much too far apart to be interchangable. You'll have to switch them to the normal positions.

Those BYOC boards are a pain in the ass to desolder - I've never been able to do it.

I'm not sure of the best course of action - maybe just try melting the solder left on the board and pushing the part through? <---- this might take a couple extra hands.

you're better off trying to desolder it. you have to be careful not to fry the transistors.
desoldering braid works really well on pc boards. you just have to use a completely clean section of it and let it heat up properly.

Some "helping hands" will make this type of stuff a lot easier Desoldering braid, clipping the leads with some to spare to pull out etc. that's the way forward.

I can't remember when I last used braid (wick). I use a vacuum desoldering tool/desolder pump.
