Now I could be paranoid but I think I see a pattern developing, and it seems to be pointing to the MG65 getting discontinued this year or next year. Most of you know I'm making a Robert original Duo-Sonic project guitar, and it does strike me as stupid to buy another similar guitar (well to buy it full stop as I've only just sorted out my sodding finances). But here's the rub - I want one.

I want a Daphne Blue MG65 really quite badly.

Do you think they're going to get canned? I would spit if they deleted them before I could get my hands on one.

I think the Mustang is destined to stop and continue... Some people love em, but the big famous guys don't, which is what sells. But, who knows... What's the difference between the 65 and later years?

or bide your time and hope for a second hand one when you can afford it if they do get discontinued.

If they get discontinued, the 2nd hand ones will be approximately the same price as the current online prices I would expect.

Well if they do get discontinued, this forum will probably be the first to know and much stores will likely have some significant remaining stock by that time. Theres room for pace.

It certainly looks like there is a pattern...but like Sub said - likely to have time once they are discontinued.

Don't really know much about Mustangs specifically, but I do know that Ishibashi always have plenty of thme, and frequently have more colour options than buying them here in the UK, cheaper too. With better customer service. So I reckon you could safely hold off.

But where's the fun in that? Buy one now, tighten your belt a bit, and start mass producing green muff clones and selling them on eBay.

I would doubt it but fair play if so.

I've just spent ten minutes being all smug and totting up ishibashi prices, exchange rates and customs charges, only to discover that no, they work out £50 dearer. They do, however, have lots of pretty colours and option, that aren't likely to be going anywhere. But still, buy now!

You'll get no legal grief at all from EHX - do a search on eBay and have a look at the number of muff clones available - quite a gap at the green end of the market, too. Not wishing to piss on WattsonFX's chips too much, but people are always on the lookout for SuperFuzz clones, too. Surely if you made a couple of short production runs (say ten of each?) to cut down on costs, and listed two of each a week, you'd rake it in. I'm sure Fran would chip in with a testimonial.

Not interested in making SuperFuzzes. They already do it better than I would be able to at an affordable price.

When my current order list dies down I will make 4 Green Big Muffs in parallel and see what happens. Thanks for the heads up mate. Can you drop me Ishibashi's Mustang section? I can never navigate that site.

Et voila - the prices might come in slightly cheaper than marked because you don't have to pay Japanese sales tax; they used to show this price, but seem to have stopped now. Postage is 16000 yen (about £40, if memory serves), remember 22% bastard tax at Customs - Ishibashi have always been good as gold to deal with (I've had two guitars from them) and once got a guitar to me quicker than it took one to come from Leeds.
