Were these things really made by Gibson? I don't actually know if this thing is actually a shortscale, but since it looks like a Mustang I'll stick it in the short scales forum

I used to own one. They are made by Gibson - here's a rundown: Compressed wood body (reletively light weight), lower-output single, terrible tremolo, no intonation to speak of, for whatever reason strings aren't grounded at the factory so it buzzes like crazy.

They're OK for punk and such, but I wouldn't buy it unless you got a deal. They usually need a fair amount of setup work.

i had one without trem in red.

they jsut don't intonate for crap in my experience. they sound decent and look pretty cool though, poor mans mustang. they have really gone up in price though. i think if its a good deal, you could hold on to it and flip it later.
when i bought mine for a little over 200 with a distortion plus on ebay. sold the pedal, and the guitar later as well, for a more than i paid, jsut like 6 months later

i wouldn't pay anymore than 100 bucks for one of these.


the way they are built, the body is like an inch thick and the neck is 2 inches thick so it neck sticks up mega high over the body of the guitar. resulting in sliced finger tips if you try to rock anything harder than rick astley on it

I had one in 7th grade when I needed TEH KURDTZ on the cheap.

I rocked that rig for more then a year and a half. It was awesome. The Hotrails are still in my parts bin, DS-1 got Keeley mods, Chorus was sold and then bought back last year (awesome Leslie sound), amp got converted to a 2x12 cab for my bassman and I still have the chassis.

my friend has one a 65 or so in white with 2 pickups and a missing trem arm that i just cleaned up and it's a POS IMO really cool to look at but hard to play

Gibson sucked for a while in the 60s and 70s and 80s

Better solid ash than compressed wood shavings though!
