Waiting is the hardest part

Post by MattK »

Pulled the trigger on a 94 MIJ Jag from Ishibashi today - alder body, Japan domestic model. Now I have to wait until it arrives!

(and finally ... a shortscale in the family)

Yikes! Looks really old-school though, only thing more retro would be a matching headstock.

As for me I am a bit fixated on the white / tort thing, would probably prefer brown but I think I'll be all right for now!

one thing that gets me about the jap stuff is the countours and roundover.
i noticed with my american jag and the jap but robs pic shows how riged they really are.
plus i played rods favorite stang and then a jap re-issue and the difference was insane!
hurb has some good pics of how curvy his aen 69 is.

its ok to have bad taste, millions of people live normal lives and suffer from bad taste.
but if you find you start eating your own shit you may want to consult a doctor about your disorder.

Hahaha, being a dick is fine.

How long have you got to wait for it MatthewK? I find waiting for anything in the post, especially from oversea excruciating. Any ring at the door and I'm at the landing window like a soppy dog seeing if it's a delivery van.

I've heard that said before - I can't speak for the body edges but here is the original 1962 magazine ad overlaid / compared with the guitar I just bought:

I definitely have the rose-coloured glasses on but that looks like pretty good manufacturing tolerances for two guitars made 30 years and 8000 km apart.

The two images were simply sized the same (without adjusting width-to-height or anything like that). Oh, and I rotated one about half a degree to line them up. (Obviously there is a flip in the second image!)

Yeah, I will be jumping when the phone rings for sure. Never shipped Japan-Aust before, Ishibashi use EMS. Maybe a week - I guess the store has to pack it and then it's on an aircraft to Sydney, then all the way down here to Hobart. Funny, I thought I would relax when I had found one to buy.

It looks amazing Matthew. Congratulations - I'm sure you'll love it.

My favourite colour combination on a Jaguar.

The left-side image is a Photoshop overlay of the ad and my MIJ - makes it hard to tell which feature belongs to which. The original ad image is the sunburst on the right, I can see the mute. The cover does seem to be missing though.
