Okay so I've got 5 body blanks (alder) sitting in the closet and some big ideas but I've done nothing but sit on my ass...

this is the plan.

2 duo sonics (one for me one for my daughter)
1 "must-master" shortscale bass
1 hardtail jazzmaster
1 custom shape shortscale for my son

I drew up a couple of ideas for my son:

this is the one I like, kinda early 80s euro-trash

But he prefers this one

the thin line is gonna be the German carve contour...

The second one makes me think of a Musima Elgita. Very nice!

oh yeah I have to totally go with my son's choice, he's a very, very, very particular nearly 7 year old.

the 2nd one is based on my Hagtrom with that offset look thrown in.

Second one is great, though personally I'd make the end of the pickguard at the control end more pointy to go with the look.

How shortscale are you going to make it? I don't know your son but he guess he has pretty small hands.

The first one reminds me of a pinewood derby car I made in 3rd grade. I may just be thinking of teh color.

Thanks ninja.

I am going to do the classic fender 22.5 inch scale. Both kids have pretty long fingers (my daughter can reach one octave on the piano)
