JAZZCASTER DONE!

Fucking A! It took less time for Robert to build it and for the paint to dry than for me to find my ass and wire it up. I have more pics and will film a demo when I get back from Denver. The alder on this one and the Bronco will break your back, but you will be happy to let it. I broke and stripped so many screws on this thing, it isn't funny. The DDDave guard had to be altered, and even then the pickup heights are a pain to adjust. But what the hell? It looks good and sounds powerful. The color is CAR without the silver base underneath, which has been called Bloody Mary Kay. Mary Kay is a translucent white, and this is trans red. The grain is visible, but it's a rich candy red.
The binding was shot with plenty of tinted clear to make it look like the 1957 prototype hybrid I was envisioning when I originally decided to do this. I will let you know if it was a good idea or not. Special thanks to Robert, and of course to Cowbell, who did the inlay and lined up the neck properly after I fucked it up. I would thank DDDave, but DDDave's not here. Oh, and I bought the Novak and the other pup from Cowy too. It's a real collaborative effort. I can take moar pics if anyone's interested.

BTW, the Jazzcaster can stand up on its own sides. It's that flat, balanced, and heavy.

sorry to digress from the topic slightly, but is that a starcaster on the wall behind? or is it a humbuckered coronado?

...very cool, much rather had than a normal strat, but...
Is there REALLY no other way to ground the trem? You ought to take a long drillbit and get a ground going into the cavity, get rid of non-playable strings lol. I also really think the pickguard should be redone to do such a great idea justice... One that follows the outline of the guitar a bit better and cleans up the routes...
Great idea though, I'm building (still) the tele version of this at any rate

it's sort of like a hardtail strat bridge. the starcaster is strung though body.

Oh shit, you saw that big fat wire sticking out! The trouble is that several of the trem screws are stripped and I can't easily remove it. I guess I should order more and do it properly. I have had more than enough time to do so. Until recently, I didn't get the whole grounding thing.

Love the binging look on Strats for sure. Pickups not quite working for me but I still do admire it.
