Hey, someone recommend me some good preamp tubes.
I have a Peavey Classic 50 4x10 and the power tubes were changed with groove tubes
Im guessing GT preamp tubes would be good also, but there seems to be many different kinds of GT.
So what good? i like a nice CLEAN sound.
Thanks Guys.

GTs are good, as are JJ/Teslas.
The main differences between types are gain and plate construction. In the 12AX7 camp you have gains of 100-120. For clean, your probably looking for something with the 7025 designation (standard for Fender). Some people use lower gain tubes like 12AY7s or 12AT7s (or even 12AU7, though this would decrease volume dramatically) for less gain and more headroom, but they can feel cold and unresponsive.
Plate size is a little more subjective - short plates are standard, with long and medium plates also available. Short plates tend to be tight and low in microphonics (good for distortion). The longer plates increase the bass response and warmth (at the expense of added microphonics), with medium being a blend of the sounds. What is best for you depends on what you want out of the amp.
GT-12AX7-R = short plate
GT-12AX7-R2 = long plate
GT-12AX7-R3 = medium plate

The reviews of the Electro Harmonix 12ax7 seem to be pretty good. wondering if i should give them a try.
