Hot rails wiring

I just wired in the no-name hot rail Fran give me into my strat, and it's very very quiet. If I have the amp at bedroom volume the pickup is too quiet to be heard, I have to turn it right up so that on the other pups its way past bedroom volume to even hear it.

I assumed the colours were the same as duncan hotrails, red & white twisted & taped, green & bare soldered to the pot and the black on the 5 way. I tried switching the green and black and I get the same result.

Any ideas shortscale?
