So I saved up all summer and did various jobs in order to get money, and I bought a Jag. After having it for almost two months now, I just love it. Of course I'd rather have the Jaguar, but on my budget this is the best i could do. Discuss pros and cons of the Jagmaster.

i'm pro not calling any guitar other than a jaguar a "jag."


but yeah, jagmasters are hot, man. i've only ever played the one al has in his studio, but i thought it was a great player.

ya everybody thats touched it so far has said it was great. just wondering what the general SS consensus was on the jagmaster...

I'd never sell mine. It's a Japanese Vista so the build quality is exactly the same as the Japanese Jaguar.

i have one of those newer jagmasters. its in peices, i bought it essentially in peices, but its a cool guitar.
still not a fan of the strat trem tho.

The strat trem doesn't bother me, I hardly use the trem anyway and I prefer them to anything flatter like a TOM. My Jagmaster and Strat have the vintage saddles too though and they're much better than the more blocky ones.

Jagmasters are just awesome. Best of both worlds.. humbuckers, non problematic bridge, a simple 3-way toggle, great offset body and effective pickguard. All for a nice price.

I had a Vista years ago and i'm sorry to be selling a chinese model now (i built from parts) on eBay. It has 28 watchers after one day! Look at this beauty mofos!!

The Strat trem is very good if you set it up correctly and maintain it. Alternatively its a guitar worth installing a Wilkinson two point fulcrum trem.

I really like my jagmaster, i bought it in the summer when I only had a temporary job, and I new I couldn't afford a mustang, or a jag. The only problem I have with it is my Jagmaster goes through "moods(?)" where it keeps tune really shitty on certain strings, especially when you bend them. It goes away for days/weeks and then it comes back...Dunno if anyone had this problem and if they know how to fix it? but all in all it's a great guitar and deffinitely worth the 250$ I spent on it.

When I get my mustang next week I will forsure still play it, and bring it to gigs as a backup, and maybe use it for certain songs.

Make sure you 'stretch' your strings in, put pencil graphite in the nut slots, maybe lypsol/vaseline inder the string trees and watch for temperature changes. Ex. Dont leave it leaning up on a radiator or something like that.
If you have your bridge set in a floating position and use it heavily you may need to invest in a Hipshot Trem Setter so the trem always returns to point zero.

My Jagmaster is very close to being my favourite gutiar. I love it.

Don't know what a floating position is...The only thing I really use my bridge for is for part of my hand when palm muting, don't really use my trem much..if at all..

As a senior member of this forum and a pillar of the community i apologise on their behalf, their behaviour is most unacceptable at times.
But, you have to take into consideration that without trying to sound condescending these are mostly simple basics of guitar set up and some members after years and years of the same questions get frustrated. Dont worry about it dude.

Nothing to apologize for man, I can understand they must get easily annoyed with those kinds of questions.
but at the same time, I've never really tried screwing around with my guitars cause up until september I never really had a job too pay to fix something if I screwed up.

I'll do some of the things you mentioned when I go to the guitar store sometime this week or next (dunno if i'll have time with work and other things, and I hate going to the guitar store on the weekends)

Floating position: Where the bridge "floats", ie it can be moved up and down from it's stable position.
Locked position: Locked down so it can't be moved.

ahh..this may probably will sound stupid, but you mean moving up and down with the use of a trem...correct?

Yep, locked down the trem shouldn't work. If you don't use the trem at all it might be an option, look into buying some extra trem springs.
