BRUTALLY LOUD

It sounds like it has a similar vibe to the champ, healthy bass and some nice presence.
I can tell it's one of those amps you need to be in the room to get a real sense of the sound.

The drive is the same kinda thing, it's nice and raw.

You got a deal, at least compared to UK prices.

Good lil' amp, if I didn't have the champ I'd probably consider one.

I wish I could make my voice in bold and red. It's as loud as my Champ 12, which is more then twice the wattage and has a 12" speaker. It's really surprising to hear in person.

Do you prefer the champ 12 to it? I tried out a v8 and was impressed with how loud it was, but I didnt really get a chance to go over it and listen to the tonez? Can you campair this amp to that of the Former Crate V8?

Nice playing by the way!

Champ 12 is more versatile and sounds better with Fenders and bridge PUPs. I just like the simplicity of this one - it seems to gel with the U1 very nicely.

I played the V8 when it first came out something like 6 years ago. I remember not liking it but I probably didn't understand how to dial it in. Honestly I don't really remember how it sounded - it was loud, though.

Great vid, I love the informal, friendly vibe.

I had to return the V5 today after 4 days and about 5 hours of use. The volume knob went crunchy on half its rotation. And, worse, the low notes started fizzling. Ab especially, but any chord in the lower register fizzled out at any volume. I couldn't tell if it was a tube, speaker, or filter cap issue so I decided I didn't care to find out and just took it back. OH WELL.
This is how we learn what not to buy.

Thanks for the heads up, mang.

Wow, seriously thanks for the heads up. Atleast there are so many low-wattage valve amps these days.

Why is the video gone? Because it's broken? I don't see how it being broken and taking the video down are related. I got the impression from the new title that Crate wouldn't let you post the video.

Is NAD the testicle version of nigged?

No - I was gonna edit the video to cover the recent developments, but then decided I didn't want to put the time into it. I just took it down to avoid directing too many people towards the V5. I'll probably just put a review on HC now.

Why not? it might just be this one amp. You could get it fixed or get a replacement and have many happy amp days to come.
