Modern Rifles

Post by ProcessedMeatMan »

I'm posting stuff from Deaton's band for him because he doesn't post here anymore... cuz he's a chode.

His band, Modern Rifles, is releasing their CD "I Was Young, It Was Dark" in a few weeks and he gave me a copy of it. I think it's fucking brilliant, so I figured I'd share a few tracks with youse guys. Some of their songs even recycle some old Amherst riffs that we never had the chance to record... and I love what they've done with them.

Here are a few of the "best" songs, in my opinion of course! Their song titles are, uhhh... interesting.

Fuck me if I'm wrong, but is that a ham sangy in your hand?

Say a prayer to Saint Happenen

Sounds good for what it is, I'm just not a fan of the genre. I liked Amherst better.

s'all good! Though, if Amherst would have somehow made it through our growing pains, Modern Rifles would be pretty damn close to how our sound would've matured. The other guitarist in Rifles was meeting with Dan just before we stopped playing and probably would've been our second guitarist... and a few of their songs contain old, unfinished Amherst riffs. Hell, while they contain no Amhersty goodness, the first two tracks I posted (Fuck me and Saint Happenen) remind me a TON of what we were doing when we split.

I'll pass on the good words to Dan's bitch ass!

In the meantime, here's their Website, Garageband page and obligatory MySpace page.

Some different songs on there, I think.
