New ShortscaleGearDemo: How To Guitar Sounds, Vol 1

I figure we could start making a bunch of videos in this style - how to get celebrated guitar sounds on a budget, without buying the exact same equipment as used on the record, could be a cool concept. In this one I try and cop the How Soon Is Now? guitar sound using just a Tunamelt Tremolo (£20) and a homemade overdrive pedal. Credit obviously to Arsecake for the inspiration.
I figure we could do a bunch of these, using things like Fuzz Factory for Muse (boo hiss), Big Muff for Dinosaur Jr/Pumpkins and so on.
What do you guys think?

Great idea. but...Ya know those assholes on youtube that critque everyone's playing of certain cover songs? Those same assholes will be all over these types of demos saying things like "that doesn't sound like it." etc. Just be prepared for all the negative cunts to bombard your efforts. We IRL know that its "not exactly the same", but it sounds pretty damn close to it, and that is all that should matter. FUCK OFF YOU CUNTS! ![Evil or Very Mad ](./images/smilies/icon_evil.gif)

This is what I worked out (relative to capo)
I have no idea how accurate it is with regard to the voicing Marr uses but it sounds good to my ear
Code: Select all
e -----------3-3--2--2--0--0--0--0---0----------------------------------
b ------0-0--3-3--2--2--0--0--0--0---0-------------------------------------
g -4-4--0-0--0-0--2--2--4--4--7--7---1----------------------------------------
D -2-2--2-2--0-0--0--0--4--4--7--7---2---------------------------------------
A -0-0--3-3--2-2--0--0--2--2--5--5---2--------------------------------------
E -----------3-3---------------------0------------------------

I typed this out before I went out but my wireless fucked it over so I don't know if I'll say what I did before.Mike wrote:This is what I worked out (relative to capo)

I was playing just as Cadd9 G Bm D, but the way you've got it there seems much more accurate, with the bit before the Cmajor7 and the Dsus? Anyway I can't be arsed to figure out the chords but that sounds much better :D I'll give it a proper blast tomorrow when it's not 3am D:
