more robots..

seems like they're going down the "let's put as much on here as possible" route - piezo, humbucker and new p90, self tuning gizmo and what looks like a re-branded echo audiofire 2 with hex input on the back... no clips yet though.

might rock. might just be the same as the gibson/moog guitars from the norlin era.. certainly a nice finish though - red/black burst with black binding.

No. See Name on Headstock. See robotic tuners on headstock.

Impossible.

That's ugly, even for a les paul.

They'll be selling these for real cheaps, yes?

I fucking love the smoked-glass looking scratchplate with the red and matt black pickups. It's iconic.
It's got a breakout box for Roland and Axon compatible MIDI shit- awesome: 100 points for effort more than Fender.

In fact the only thing I don't like is the stupid fucking robotard tuners, and for $$$$ I'd except them to throw in the dots on the fretboad as well.

Red + Quilted + ROBOT TUNERS + Gibson = No.

We used to have that color as a carpet when I was like 2 in the "toy room". . . It torments me for life with is ugliness

i like the color, but don't like lp's body. what's that neck pickup? a p-90?!

cheap - probably not. To be honest, they'd be better off ditching the tuners (I still hate the glowing tone knob), the interface thing (it's a guitar, not an ipod), putting sperzels on in place and then selling it for maybe $200 more than a stock LP. Like an upgraded BFG?

colour (like the red/black combo), smoked scratchplate and black pickups look sweet, but carbon fibre inlays though???

fender did do something vaguely "hey kids, we're down with your interweb thing" a while back with the four knob VG-Strat - that seemed to be a roland modeller built into the guitar. but four knobs looks wrong and imho 95% of the time you'd end up just playing the pickups rather than the virtual built-in sounds i guess...

We're known for the structural integrity of our headstocks. Let's fuck them up worse, because we truly are the stupidest guitar company in the world

Hahaha I didn't even look that much at the website.

LIGHT YOUR FIRE?
The original Robot Guitar took the guitar world by storm
Hahaha
The design and shape of Gibson's iconic Les Paul is timeless, and needs no real introduction or explanation. It is simply the most recognizable and functional guitar design in the world
Hahahahaha

Here is post in the forum that is apparently "BURNING UP" with discussion of this thing (5 topics and a handful of posts \m/)
I hope Gibson never stops keeping up with the new technology. Otherwise, who will set the bar?
Oh god.

I like the finish, thats it though.

I got a catalog from Thomann in the post yesterday, had the Les Paul Vixen and the SG with 3 lipstick pu's both for around £350 which seemed like a good deal.
On the site they are more expensive though.

Fuck it, I think its cool. Well, except for the autotuning function, that's retarded. But the finish, PAF, P-90 andpiezo? Neato.

Those are funny blade pickups, like the S1 from the seventies. If they made an sg with a coupla lipsticks I'd pay attention :-)

For trying, Gibson > Fender

The robot tuners actually weigh about the same as the normal tuners. They're big but very lightweight.

The robot tuners piss me off. Also, I have no idea why Gibson is offering all these new innovations in such horrid looking finishes. All I can say though is since most of the people who like the vintage look are against these new gadgets they're putting on these guitars, they see no reason to make these "new" guitars vintage looking.

Either way, Gibson still > Fender. At least in my opinion.

Finish = RAWK

Pickups = RAWK

robotics = SUCK

LP Body = MEH

Give me an SG body and maybe even an Epi manufacture and I'll be sold.

and does anybody else feel the new gibson site is ripping off the Apple website?
