if there's anyone who owns one here could you please post close up pics and your impressions and maybe some sounds ?
it's not for me but my dad wants to take up guitar and he's a blues fan, the blue and wine red look pretty awful so i was thinking either black or blonde (i prefer blonde, it's not all yellow or too white, but then again i've only seen pics)

and also is there a big difference between their standard series and the affinities ? and which differences are there cept for price ?

It may be out of your price range, but the classic vibe teles are amazing. they are about 300USD as oppossed to about 180 USD for the squire affinity series over here.

I bought the classic vibe about a month ago and it is just a great guitar with all the stuff you want in a tele. Great finish, 3 saddle brass bridge, the pups sound great, nice glossy maple neck... It plays just as nice as the custom shop tele and the Baja tele's I used to own.

my dad's never touched a guitar and we're not gonna spend 300 euro on a xmas present for him so that's not really an option i'm afraid :?

Buy it "for him".

Put 14s on it.

Steal it when he gives up.

But seriously.

I played an affinity tele in a shop a while ago when I was looking a teles and it seemed fine to me. It perfectly playable, sounded pretty alright, although the neck pup was a bit dead sounding.

I'm guessing you're trying to get a guitar that's gonna last at least a year or so before he starts looking at better ones?

or gives up lol

besides i'm lefty and flipping a tele doesn't sound very appealing so it'll prolly end up being sold or if he actually doesn't lose intrest he might buy himself a more high end one.

just need a decent guitar that plays easy for a beginner, i've never held one of those affinities so i've no idea what the neck is like or if they're heavy or not and as for the sound... it's not really a priority if you're just starting out, can't expect absolutely lush pickups for that pricetag i guess but doesn't matter. dammit i wish the store here had some in stock so i could pick one like that and not buy blind. because me fear is a bit that it's one of those things where you can have five of them and one stands out because it just feels nicer somehow and the controls don't crap out after a day...

Just remember to a beginner everthing feels the same. If it's a bit rough he's not gonna notice, I learned on a classical that cost 25 quid from argos. I think I got very, VERY lucky with that one since it's totally playable, even now that I can actually tell.

I forgot you're a southpaw, stealing options are limited then, bah.

well not if i wouldn't be such a wimp not wanting to flip a tele (cara does it no ?) but heck.

i guess you're right though, squier know what they're doing, the guitars are built fairly well and to a beginner a guitar is a guitar, as long as it makes sound, haha, just hope i don 't have to expect technical malfunctions with knobs having to be resoldered or strings not staying in tune etc

also, i'm leaning towards the arctic white

the pickguard's also so plain white, almost like it isn't there and i hate the bridge haha, the black looks a bit boring though

I bought it off nickd for 80 English you can have it for that. shipping shouldn't be that bad really if I take the neck off. we could sort something out if you are interested.

fuuuuuckkk my mum said 'no more than 150eur' lol i guess i don't really have an option anymore now, unless i pay extra, which i would, for anyone, but my dad. i told her about the guitar you're selling but she just sighed and said 'get that cheap one'
sorryz hurb, i know it's annoying trying to sell a guitar my bass has been lying in the garage for over a year and no one buys it, i bet it plays nicer than those affinities too and it more bang for the buck sorta

If it helps, due to our impending economic meltdown 150 euros is way more than £80.
