yeah, but i think cyclones got 24.75" neck, as opposed to 24" of mustang.

Yeah I'm the one that bought that.
I can't check the ebay listing because I'm at work but I can tell you that I absolutely love mine.
Appart from the body shape, she's really nothing like a mustang. If a mustang is what you want, don't susbtitute with this.
My experience with the Cyclone II (and this may very well be dependant of my rig) is that it sounds like nothing I've ever heard before... It's like there's no rythm setting at all. All the pickup configs produce variations of different bridge type sounds. The brige sounds almost Telecaster-y, the mid sounds like a strat brige and the neck sounds like a Jaguar bridge. For me, this is all pretty cool, but I can see how it would frustrate others. Nother thing is that the body (alder) a good half inch thicker than that of a mustang, so it's pertty heavy, even by mexican standards.
I really like the neck on this thing alot. Taxi is right, it is 24.75" Gibson scale. The radius is super flat and the profile is nice and meaty.
I fucking loev it hardcore but it took some getting used to, you know?

They look like mustangs, but they don't feel or sound anything like a mustang.
I tried one out before I bought my mustang. It didn't sound too bad, but I didn't really like the way it felt....probably cause the action wasn't low enough...I'm very picky when it comes to the action.
It was a good guitar, but I would rather have the mustang than a cyclone II.

Yeah I think that's what I'm going to do. It is a nice guitar and I hardly see any come up on eBay - that's why I posted it.
However even thought I'm sure I would be happy with it, I would still be wanting a Mustang, and would just have to start saving all over again!

Just watched the youtube demo -- awesome! Now I really want one of these. I think I might be more into it than a Mustang, even. So many guitars, so little money. Gotta save up and watch the eBay I guess!

They are certainly cool but £425? I dunno, you can pick a second hand Jap Jaguar, Jazzmaster, Strat or Tele up for less. As much as i love the newer designs that does'nt make sense to me. This last year has seen all the 'new breed' guitars jump up in price including the Cyclone, Toronado and Jag-Stang. And they are quite simply discontinued variants of the main designs.

£450 does sound a bit high to me. I see them fetch anywhere between $450 and $650 US regularly. From what I've been hearing, Fenders tend to be overpriced in the UK, though... I'm sure that with a bit of patience and net savvy, you can find a nice one at the right price.
As for the variation on the same theme argument, I agree that most, if not all of Fender's new breed designs are basically no more than mashups of existing models, I gotta point out that this shaddows rather closely our own concoctions and that THAT, right there, says alot about fender's response to demand. I for one would rather see Fender release something like the Malikaster or Hurb's... *forgot the name*, than to see them take on yet another Strat/Tele signature model or goofy relic.

Saw a used Cyclone for about 312 British Pounds (or 466 $, was priced 350 €) here in Berlin. The one offered here looks like it's in better condition though. And it's a different guitar obviously, the one offered here has a humbucker in bridge position.
