just went to the dreaded guitar center and played every american series fender and a few others but i have to say.... wow they are hot guitars heres the ones i tried:

52' tele nice neck very very springy and the bridge pickup very true to original
mim hh jaguar nice love the coil splitting option works good w/ every amp.
52' hot rod nice humbucker nicer neck for some reason worked great w/ a marshall
american standard strat very hot nice neck amazing guitar completely rid me of my distaste for strats

also had a lot of help had a big muff, RAT, and few other good pedals in stock

what do you think about this years fenders splurge away?

its definetly a tie between the jag and the strat the hh strat is incredible i loved how you can make it thinner and thicker with the treble boost!

and the strat sounded better than every other strat ive played the neck with the pickups work but i reccomend the rosewood one b/c maple is just a little too springy

I haven't played any of the new american series guitars, but I love the basses. They completely fixed everything that I hated about the last run of american standard basses.
