shipping cost to canada has me a bit pissed, might have to get someone to rebound it, with brokerage i would probably be looking at $200+ for shipping

i was thinking about it as my other semi-hollows don't have one either, i'd have to see how many holes are in the black part of the burst. anything in black can be filled and dyed easily enough

These things look great on paper, but the ones I've played have been seriously lacking. I used to own an Agile ES335 copy, and it played and sounded pretty poor. The body wood looked decent, but didn't resonant very well. The rosewood on the neck was mediocre at best. Also the finish felt very plastic-y.

Perhaps the higher up Agile models are a lot better. I just know with the lower-end models, you can figure that you'll want to be replacing the electronics, pickups, the nut, and maybe the tuners. You also mentioned the high shipping cost. Once you consider all these things it doesn't really seem like such a good deal anymore.

I mean maybe it's cork sniffing, but there are very few foreign made instruments that felt as good or seemed as well put together as the American equivalent of that model. And once they are modified to be better, you've almost spent the cost of a what the 'real deal' would have been if you bought a used one. If you decide to trade it in later, you can't recoup most of what you spent on it, whereas you could with a US instrument.

Sorry, I don't mean to rain on your parade, just you should consider saving your money and getting a used Rickenbacker 12 string later. They aren't particularly hard to find, and I think you'll like it a lot more than this one, which might end up just being a novelty.

i've heard some things about the lower end models but the higher end ones have had better reviews. this one uses a graphite nut and apparently the pickups are pretty good, so i think it might be worth the buy if i can get a decent shipping quote.

Yeah, sorry if I came across as a dick. For a model like this, it makes sense since a 12 string might not be used enough to justify the expense of a Rickenbacker.

If you're looking for a good 12 on the cheap you might want to consider a dano.

I saw that, since I'm also in the market for a cheap(ish) 12 string...My initial impression was good until I realized the pickguard is chrome which just doesn't sit right with the sunburst finish. I also have no idea how those pickups would sound. Danelectros and Daisy Rocks can be had unter $400 also, both of which in my opinion are more solid designs.

so i snagged it, first mods planned are some witch hat knobs to replace the stock ones, working on a black pick guard, and i'm also considering swapping the pickups. they sound great but i'm getting microphonic feedback at high volume levels and anything with dirt and even the slightest gain. Any ideas on getting rid of this issue? the stock pickups sound good, it's just a shame i can't push the level to high.

other than the issue with the feedback, it is a great guitar, the finish is nice, the action was surprisingly perfect from the factory, the neck is nice and thick, and it really has a wide variety of sounds available thanks to the 3 pickup configuration.
