...tell me about broncos please!

Post by Pacafeliz »

hey guys...

i might have a lead to an (i'm told '67 - that'd be first year?) bronco, apparently all original.

even if "period incorrect", ever since i saw one in that buddy holly film i've been in love with these. red ones, oh yeah. :P

i know they are basically mustangs with one pickup, a different pickguard and tremolo. not much more.

guessing that more than one here owns one, what else is to know about these? specially the trem - is it really bad (like it sez in the fender book)?

apparently there is no trem arm with the guitar, will a standard strat arm work or does anybody sell them?
do these guits have contoured bodies or slab?

ok ok enough for now.
lemme hear it! thanx! greets from sunny and warm mexico!

Pat.

slab body, don't know about the trem cause mine doesn't have the arm either. but no a strat arm does not work in it... for some stupid ass reason they made special trem arms only for these guitars, and everyone that owned one lost their trem arm.

DodgeDartDave told me when I was fixing up mine that he was working on a piece for the bridge that would make it possible to use a strat trem arm on it, but I don't know if he was ever successful with that idea.

I got a strat trem bar to fit in my bronco. I had drill out the trem hole a wee bit, but it was WAY worth it. I love the trem action on Broncos. Its like a more compact jazzmaster trem. Do it, jefe.

Bronco knobs are both black and silver. I wish I can go back and rediscover the bronco knob all over again. I'm thinking these are B necked? Slab Body.

DO IT, JEFE.

I have a 67 and a 78. Neither had the trem. The 78 doesn't even have the sleeve it fits in. I guess I should be looking on sleazebay.

I like the trem immensely. I like the chromey look and the economy of space. Having the bridge pup gives it a great attack. I guess I should be pewsting clips of this shit. The 78 is way more heavy, but I like them both.

If you're pissing your pants over it already you'll never last 9 days.

I'm thinking of making an Offer.

I might put in an offer of £5.20 just to make myself feel better.

Right, I put in an offer. Not sure if I can afford the full £400 at the moment, so I put in an offer just below. There are 2 other offers though which are pending... and if they offer the same or more I guess they will win.

Fingers crossed.

Also I saw THIS which looked pretty nice. Gonna keep an eye on it.
