Heres the story; I want another Mustang but as cheaply as possible. Im considering THIS against building one myself.
So we have a body blank, tailpiece, bridge, scratchplate, control plate, switches and one pickup here, plus its finished. For me to achieve that stage i'd be looking at around 100 gbp minimum. But i cant live with myself thinking this project sale is worth that money. What do you guys think?

I have a neck ready for this, a MIK maple Strat neck. The guy has set the bridge for standard 25" scale.

Go for it. If it don't work out, you could always sell it again

thats a horribly cut body fran, I wouldn't bother personally.

the tailpiece doesn't look like a proper mustang one, nor does the control plate. for £21 there's no harm in having a pop, you might be able to do something with it, but it looks a bit weird.

Granted it don't look great, but it's cheap. The tailpiece looks like a Jag/JM one pushed right up against the bridge.

It looks like an allparts Jag tailpiece. The body, i think the horns are out of proportion the more i stare at it. Damn

i was looking at that the other day and thought the tailpiece was just too messed up, you could try moving it so its 24" scale

id go for it as long as it doesnt get too expensive

The body shape is way off. The butt is too flat, top horn goes away from the neck too much and it's barely radiused at all.

You could fix that a little, but the amount of work it would take you may as well start from scratch and do it right.

Yeah... i get the picture thanks. I've about knocked the idea on the head, theres bound to be a load of numptys bidding on it as well, pushing the price to a ridiculous level.

True that. Looking at it again, it is a little messy...

If you want a H/s Mustang, and are willing to wait for a body or build one yourself, it might be worth a cheeky punt just for the parts.

None of it very valuable, but if you have a use for them they've got to be worth at least £50 or so combined. It's hard to tell from the pics because of reflections but I'm not sure of the condition of the jag trem plate. It looks like the trem arm part has been sawn off or something.

I'm telling you stuff you know of course, but I'm trying to say what I think about it clearly in case you still have a slight case of project goggles.

No worries mate. I get very optimistic at times and see opportunity that sometimes is'nt there, usually my gambles pay off but a few recent acquisitions have gone a bit tits up so i think i'll be leaving this one well alone.

if the price stayed right there-- could be fun
but if it goes up at all forget it

i don't like it. no contours, and as was said the shape is off. also, 25" mustang isn't a mustang.

Why are you after another 'Stang, Fran?

The Mustang is the only Fender i'm really getting on with at the moment to be honest, its light, its comfy, i can hardtail it, no third bridge harmonics and the switches are easy to ignore lol. I intended to gig Coyotes old one but its so pretty i considered getting another to bash about on.

I never thought you'd leave the Jaguar.

I still love it, but its not working out for me in my current enviroment. Its too fiddly and distracting it seems to produce a different player in me. The Jag was excellent in my last band when things were more subtle and messed with FX more.
