Bass Driver DI


Programmable bass driver DI

I'm thinking about asking for one of these for christmas. Do you guys have any experience with either of these?

I used to have the bass driver DI, but I used it for my acoustic guitar so I would have full control over levels and such. It sounded better than their acoustic DI. Of course, at the time I was using a Taylor T-5 and splitting the signal. One side to the DI and out to PA for acoustic and one side through the whole pedal board and into super reverb.

I have also used it to host jam/open mic nights at smaller venues where I did not want to drag a bass amp and just used the pedal and the PA.

It always sounded good to me for that but I have never been a bass player. It kicked ass for an acousitc DI though....

I've had some experience with your first link, and its awesome...especially for recording.

i used a programmable bass sansamp when i was still playing bass.
gave my sound way more um..balls, i'd say if you have a solid state amp it basically puts your amp on steroids like as if you were playing through a bigass tube monster.
but i guess the programmable one is nice too even when you have an awesome bass amp.. because of the preset options.
i had a clean boost, light overdrive and heavy/fuzzy drive. i loved the way it could make my bass sound very clear with lots of bite/attack with a plectrum. really growly. i miss it !

it doesn't give you distortion but just a very hairy pushed tube amp kind of sound on the most extreme setting. i never turned it off since i got it but then sold it because i sold all my bass gear.

it's also great for recording because you can just put it between your bass and computer/interface and it simulates a tube amp, it' not the 'real deal' but it gets pretty damn close, i did a demo of it once with the three settings but i don't know where it went because i lost those files.

Personally, the prgrammable one seems overkill.

Yea I'll probably end up going for the regular bass driver... the programmable one just seems cool cause I could have different settings on it to switch between... plus it's only $10 more... decisions....

for 10 bucks more the presets would seem worth it. I know the first pedal is great, so the one with the preset would be worth 209 I am sure... (although when I bought mine I only paid 159 for it.
