I've been thinking of getting one of these, but I've never tried any COSM stuff by Boss. I just want to know if because its mostly digital modeling if it's going to sound "fake"? I've only ever had analog effects.
General impressions on the pedal?

It's a lot of variety and the octave effect is cool to have. It doesn't sound half bad, and for most purposes, live or recording you probably wouldn't know that it's digital, however, if you were to compare the pedal models vs the actual pedals they're modeling, you'll feel an extra dimension that's missing in the models.
In other words, if you use lots of different distortions and can get a good deal on it, I would dew it, since it's one of the most practical solutions....but if you're only getting it for one or two sounds I would definitely try to buy the real thing.

I used mine as a synth overdrive though.
On guitar, it sounds good when you turn it up, not so impressive for a while, hate it when you shut it off and step on your rat.
