second hand ones go for half that price. or you might be able to find a used K station quite cheaply.

this isnt what you are talking about exactly, but the dave allen mopho is a full analog box that sounds INCREDIBLE for 400. not a keyboard, per se, but i wonder what they will go for in a while when they start popping up used?

oh yeah:

i have a yamaha portasound just like this one:

Image oops, didnt work.

which has programmable/savable patches, FM synthesis, phrase sampler, programmable drums, and like a million preset voices and rhythm tracks. i bet if you could find one youd get it cheap, and its really amazing. ill post demos, sometime.

EDIT: midi!

on second thought, its not that tiny. i mean, small enough, but you want like micro. wtf?

i have a couple of tiny fucking white casiotone keyboards that you can HAVE (+shipping) if i can find one of them. one is branded realistic, but its the same. headphone jacks, too!

but get the yamaha, seriously. :?

Well, rob, it seems you already have a computer, so why not go with a midi controller and some soft synths?

The actual model of this is not keyboard based, but there are modifications to turn it into this:

The sound functions on it are a lot more expansive that what you hear in that video. It's called a Gakken SX-150 and it's a synth kit from Japan. It comes with a ribbon controller rather than a keyboard, extremely easily to modify and the schematics are online as well. You can get the kit from MAKE for $54.95 or find them on ebay for like 42 up to 120. I've got one coming in from japan.

Or I'd say get a Casio SK-1 (or sk-whatever) but they're getting pricey.
Casio Sk-8

I have a casio sk-something I found in the trash. works great. it's super awesome if you run it through shit like distortion and phaser pedals

m-audio make some cool midi boards, i think they've a basic one for about 80eur (soooo versatile !) i remember being very very interested in the axiom series (i think that' s what they're called ? the black ones ?) but never took the dive. most of the m audio stuff is top quality too but i think the basic axiom is like 150 eur or so

i think i have one of those around somewhere. its identical to the aforementioned little white casios, except for the muppets theme and different sized case.

yeah, the more i think about it, the more you have to get that portasound i posted. get over the size, it only weighs like 5 pounds. and its smaller than a piano. or an organ.
