So a few days after I arranged this trade (thx bumble) I ask my son again. "WOuld you like your own guitar? Maybe for Christmas?"
And he says: "No, I hate them."

I would take it but, I have three Squier projects on the rack already, and four is more than I could play, let alone handle upgrading...and my mind would explode from all the new doors it would ope cause it has TEH BUKRZ
