Well the screws won't line up and you'll be left with holes on the lower horn and above the neck pocket.
You'll have to drill new ones too.

ok, well, i was planning on refinishing it anyways, this one's kinda beat.
thanks guys, i think i'm going to get a guard and just see if it will work with minimal effort.

Those squiers are routed for a giant humbucker, theres some wiggle room, for sure.

buy a used guard, try it out, if it doesn't work then sell it again
