It depends whether two to five grand or so is worth it to you more

Now that that's out of the question (lest a miracle, or a badly butchered axe find you)...

A Squier Venus XII gives you the exact same bridge and similarly designed pickups. Get one of those for cheaper, though not necessarily cheap. An early MIJ Strat XII has the same bridge at least. Later Strat XIIs diverge from the formula entirely.

They're a whole lot like what you'd imagine a twelve string Fender to sound and feel like, anyway. The bridge design is brilliant and cool.

a guy on offset knows where to get an aged pearloid pickguard with all the electronics for $400

keep an eye out for shenandoah acoustics (60's fender, block and bound xii neck bolt on).

i would still say get a venus xii, i saw a sunburst one on ebay go for under $400 iirc.

 k.

Not that I doubt your budget, but I personally just don't think any guitar is worth that much... Besides, you could probably build one from scratch, or have one built for less than that.

...Did the XII with the Villager or whatever acoustic neck ever get built by whoever on here? I always figured it would be a goofy looking idea, what with the neck shaped to go around a soundhole, but I don't suppose that would have necessarily kept it from being awesome...

If one really wanted one, I'd likely recommend that they buy both the Venus and a Jazzmaster body blank.

robOG's, it looks good, the shenandoah has the normal end of the neck, like a regular fender electric
