I really love this guitar

Post by Bacchus »

I've been meaning to post this for years, but never have.

It's Richard Thompson's guitar. As far as I know, it's an entirely custom build, but perhaps Jcyphe can tell us otherwise. I like the fact that its fairly different looking, but still fairly Fendery looking.

So there you go.

Danny Ferrington built it, same guy who built the custom Stang thing for teh Kurdtz and custom instruments for Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Ry Cooder, JJ Cale, and a bunch of others.

I always liked that guitar too.

Here's what Richard has to say about the specs.

Ferrington Custom Guitar (with a mixture of pickups)

"I like my blue Ferringtoncaster best, although the top string could be louder."

"The blue Ferrington has a P90 at the neck, an Alnico Strat in the middle, and a Broadcaster at the bridge. It has a 5 position p/u selector. Each p/u has a volume control, but no tone. In the blend positions, this gives infinite tone combinations between p/us, by backing off the volumes."

My dad loves Richard Thompson. Seeing him do the millennium of music thing next month I believe.

To be honest, I'm not that fussed on him. But I love the guitar.
