P Bass pickup Info

Does anybody know if Pbass pickups should have numbers stamped on them?I disassembled my old 76 to sell in pieces but I can't find any #'s on them.I've had this bass since 1980 and I never had the pups changed.I'm wondering if they were changed out before I got it.Thanks
