damn, 1,100+ pounds? Didn't William score one of these on the cheap? How did that happen?

i love mine. it was 700.

i got lucky, it was an auction that started low, got really heated at the last second but only got to 700.

i gotta get some more pics, im wearing that one out. :P

currently dont have the vibrola on there, it jacks the action way up and isnt worth it for this reason. im going to try and make it work, but until then its not on there.

also, the 1 pickup ones are routed for 2, and tend to go cheaper (but also seem to be rarer.) just saying.

edit- also, that one seems to have 2 unoriginal knobs, unog switch, and the pickup covers are suspect. too white. mine aged exactly as the pickguard, notice.

William - do you find the nonadjustable bridge to be a hindrance? I've always wondered if those things hold tune since they can't really be intonated.

it is adjustable, overall. and the preset intonation is perfect... as long as you use heavy ass strings with a wound g. with my usual 10s though, i do OK. not perfect, but i use it mostly for the rawk, anyway. the only real problem is the plain g goes sharper and sharper (relative to the other strings) the higher up the neck you go.

there are some intonatable bridges on the market. wish someone would just come out with a vintage styled one preset for modern strings. :x

ps. thats 700USD, btw.

That's where my re-kindled love stemmed from ya B@stard... Yours looks nicer too !! ( AS LONG AS YOU DON'T MOD IT ;) )

Comparing aesthetics to sound, in an ideal world... would it best to go for the single or the two pup option ... ?

So would I be looking at about £800 for one right ?

i've seen single pickup ones in cardinal red go for less than £700, but for a double pickup version in blue you might pay a fair bit more than that.

The melody makers are the only Gibsons I would rock. FO SHO.

THIS is also amazing. WANT.

yeah, the red ones are cheaper and more common.

i love the simplicity of my 1 pickup, im still putting a lindy fralin in it, but im not doing anything else. once you get one and play around with its stock pickup, youll understand. its spikey like doritos.

i wouldnt want to fiddle around with the little jag switch and shit, now that ive gotten accustomed to my single pickup. and now 4 knobs looks like overkill to me. but thats just personal preference.

it is by far the lightest guitar ive ever hefted. way way lighter than my silvertone, i think.

pelham blue is the perfect vintage color, as it only gets better no matter how "messed up" it gets. like lake placid blue, sort of.

anyway, good luck getting one! itll be worth it when you finally get it, trust.

edit- i saw that naked one, really cool, but im afraid it has that sanded off look on the bevels and contours. not as bad as some, but ive always felt like stripped sgs lose their sharpness when the body is sanded. there was one on ebay a few weeks ago that looked like a completely different guitar, like a joe satriani model or something. :x
