'72 tele custom style butterscotch/blackguard

I picked up one of those ultracheap tele bodies from GFS and it's very good for the price, wowee.
My pictures are not representative of the colour, it's called "trans honey ash" and it's kind of like epiphone korina explorer/vees. It's a little less yellow than the '52 RI teles. I was originally going to go all out '52/no/doog/broadcaster on this, but I've come to face the fact after that squier tele I had, my brother's mim and all the RIs I've played that I really don't like those neck pickups at all (while thinking the tele bridge pickup is leo's ultimate all-time gift to rhythm guitar), plus the idea of making a 70s style tele custom for this cheap seemed good for a lark. It's gonna take a shitload of routing but I'm UP TO TEH CHALLENGE.
Pickguard lines up better than I expected, lower bout is slightly off but that's coo because it all fits on the body, is only wonky in a couple places and the top horn looks Tits Burgandy.
Found this picture of a lefthanded version of exactly what i'm building and flipped it. YES.
Gonna get a cheapo GFS neck for it at first and then see about sourcing 50s re-issue tele neck with little frets and a lots of chunk, probably for loads of money. It needs the tint.

This is pretty much my idea of the perfect tele. Even down to the colour.
I'd probably opt for the traditional guard though, for the extra yellow factor.

not to steal thunder, but thought somebody might be interested in this
http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Electra-Tel ... rms=66%3A2
might go too high, but maybe not. sometimes they get a whole bunch of interest but then just level off waaay before the end.

A horizontal scroll bar? I'm not interested in that at all.

aye what you on about james?
I bought it in 1985 with the hopes of playing some day, unfortunately I never did learn and she has been in her original case ever since
i can never understand someone who buys a guitar and then doesnt learn. even less so someone who has the guitar for 23 years and still doesn't learn.

Aw bullshit, I want that Electra.
Anyway, ever seen one-a THESE??
![Image](http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y99/paulrus/6453007.jpg)
It has a bitch neck sitting in the pocket so I could see it come together a bit more. Interesting but I still want a maple board. It's good to know that this Lotus neck is fundamentally alright though, maybe for a future project. It's pretty fat with HUGE frets.
Starting to sink in how much I'm going to enjoy this guitar when it's done.
Also:
What a time to be alive.

Is that one of the RI wide-rangers? With the card all faded it almost looks NOS.

Haha, I'm not dissapointed to see it, just surprised. When I first had the idea I wasn't aware it had been done, but then there's that lefty Fender and a copy of one done exactly how I'm doing one. I guess that Electra is leaning towards a natural finish a little more, but the 4-bolt gives me a good mental image of what mine will be like.

Nah, it's a re-issue. I've yet to bust out anything but the camera phone so far in this thread so the colours are off. I think a NOS widerange would cost more alone than this whole project will.
