This would sound like a fishy
STORY had DG not grown up here in the DC area. I am not a fan of those diamond holes tho. Hello Kitty seems to like it.

I love the diamond holes, I think they look cool period. But they certainly look cooler with those inlays than f-holes would.
It's funny how he just took all the best elements of a Trini Lopez sig, but since nobody under 40 knows who the fuck that is, it's now a DG.

i always thought the sig dg was pretty damn cool looking and he has been using it for... what like 3-4 years?

I don't think that's a Dave Grohl Guitar. The headstock's all wrong, not just for the final production model, but also for a gibson in general (looks like a strat HS). The asking price seems way to low as well. could be I'm full of shit, but that's my take on it.

Did he not ask for a Fender headstock and end up compromising?

I suppose that boundless enthusiasm is a nice relief to the usual.

Well maybe you didn't read the thread title. It's the prototype they're claiming it is, not the production model with the firebird headstock.
Why am I even typing this?

I'd be really skeptical about it since it doesn't seem to have any markings signifying that it is an actual gibson... I don't know if that's how they do their prototypes though... but I wouldn't believe it unless I saw at least some kind of certificate of authenticity from Dave Grohl or from Gibson (which if he really did get it directly from Dave Grohl then that shouldn't be too hard for him to get that stuff)

i thought that prototype gibsons always had insane amounts of markings, signifying that they are both a gibson and a prototype.

It would most likely have the custom shop serial number that starts with a 1 or something.

Ooh, I like it with the diamond pick guard, or tailpiece. I would want in red, sort of like the Elvis Hagstrom. Whatever it is, it's got the right inlays. Gibson should have used diamonds for those too Instead of split diamonds). Shit, Dave Grohl should have made some mods like teh Kurtz.

if this photo was larger maybe we would have a better idea, as there appears to be some sort of paperwork beside the guitar
